Biography
Lawyer, MA in Education, and PhD candidate in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies and Equality Policies, André Brasil conducts research on gender, diversity, human dignity, and fundamental rights and freedoms. After 18 years of legal practice in both the public and private sectors in Brazil, he returned to academia, redirecting his career toward research committed to human rights, equal opportunities, and the democratization of social spaces.
He completed his Master’s degree in Social Education at the Polytechnic University of Bragança (Portugal), graduating with distinction (18/20) and being awarded best student of the program in 2023. During this period, he undertook an Erasmus+ mobility in Rome, Italy and also participated in internationally funded research projects, notably the Voices of Immigrant Women (VIW) project. He is currently affiliated with research centers and groups in both Brazil and Europe, and is also active in civil society organizations focused on transgender rights.
He has authored scientific publications in books and peer-reviewed journals, focusing on human rights and transgender studies, and regularly participates in international conferences in the fields of education, law, and gender studies.
